Foundations Prep School is a state licensed day care that exists to provide a safe, loving and positive environment for children of working parents in our community.
Our History and who we are
Foundations Prep School opened its doors with 16 students on September 12, 2005, originally as a church-sponsored daycare.
Cassie Saquing (part of the FPS start-up team) and Lauren Torres (a former FPS Teacher and FPS Assistant Director) purchased FPS from the church and remain committed to the founding principles of FPS, which include providing high-quality and personalized care for children in our community. FPS maintains an ongoing positive rental relationship with the church.
FPS offers care and learning in nine classrooms for children, ages six weeks to six years. (Summer camp is available to FPS Alumni through age 7 years: please email the office for details.)
Our Values:
1) Honest and trustworthy
2) Team players, flexibility, teachability
3) Professional communication
4) Respectful at all times
5) Positive Leadership qualities
6) Responsible and committed with accountability
7) Nurturing and empathetic caring
8) Passionate and fun
9) High quality standards
FPS is not a religion based daycare center or educational institution and is a private facility. The children may be exposed to various religious themes during holiday seasons through songs, books, stories and projects; however, FPS staff members never instruct the children as to any religious practice or ask them to believe in any specific way. FPS Teachers often decorate their classrooms with seasonal themes but do not use purely religious symbols in order to indoctrinate the children.
The FPS Teachers will regularly survey the current parents of their classroom for specific holidays and cultural traditions in order to include all children of that classroom during that year. We see this as an opportunity for our students to be exposed to various cultures and traditions that may be important to their peers’ families. We encourage the parents to have open conversations about acceptance of other traditions and view it as a parental teaching opportunity to instill their own beliefs and traditions in support of their own unique family unit.
We support only positively themed holidays and we want to emphasize that attendance is optional for any celebration inside the classrooms. Please contact your child’s teacher directly and in a timely manner to relay this information.
While FPS regularly uses the church sanctuary for its various large group ceremonies, and while the sanctuary may have religious decorations on the stage or displayed in the adjoining areas, these decorations are not those of FPS. The sanctuary is a mixed-use space and FPS is fortunate to be able to use such great space for FPS purposes but such use is not to be construed as the imposition of any religion on the children.
Additional shared space and mix-use campus locations may include (but are not limited to):
First and Second Floor Hallways and Stairwells (bulletin boards and wall space belonging to the church)
Lockdown location outside our classroom space (white building)
Driveway and Parking Lot
All outdoor gathering spaces
Safari Room
All Bathrooms
Church Lobby
